Arbor Day Is a Different Day in Different Climates…

Depending on where you live, Arbor Day comes at different times of the year. Arbor Day varies from state to state depending on climate and planting seasons.

The first Arbor Day was April 10, 1872. National Arbor Day is officially celebrated on the last Friday in April.

However, each state has its own Arbor Day date depending on planting seasons.  The majority of states celebrate Arbor Day from February to May. However, there are some exceptions. Texas and Hawaii observe Arbor Day in November. South Carolina observes Arbor Day in December. Florida and Louisiana observe Arbor Day in January.

Arbor Day is a Teachable Moment for Children

Arbor Day is a great teachable moment for your children. Planing trees every year around the same time will give your kids respect for the natural world and their environment. Use Arbor Day as a time to remind children that we should make the world better for future generations. As you watch your trees grow, year after year, your children will see the fruits of their labor and feel proud.
